The last big product-related topic that came out of our Keaper survey is around lower price point offerings.
A number of you recommended we find ways to offer lower price point versions of our candles, with various suggestions such as votive sets. While the votive option is difficult for us at our current scale (and harkens back to our decision to reduce our product offering earlier this year), a lower-priced option is something we have been thinking about for some time.
Announcing a new packaging format (and price)!
We are very excited to launch a new offering: a “packaging-light” 6-pack format which allows us to sell the candles for $34.50 each (37% discount) during our Limited Release sales. We are able to offer these savings because this format creates a lot of efficiencies and doesn’t include our standard add-ons like matches.
Look out for this new format later this month when we offer our Waves and Isle of Jasmine Limited Releases—now that the weather is cool enough to do so (those two scents had been held up due to summer melting coconut wax concerns).
Scentsational Studio Seconds
Earlier this year we were able to hold our first online Studio Seconds sale, offering our not-quite-up-to-standards candles at deep discounts. While we expected the offering to be popular, we were stunned by how quickly we sold out (2 hours!) of what we thought at the time was essentially limitless inventory.
So yes, we will continue to do Studio Second sales!
The main challenge we face is a peculiar one: we are getting better and better at eliminating the sources of these production mishaps, so inventory is very limited.
Smart subscriber savings
I will also use this opportunity to mention that not only do subscribers get $10 off and free shipping on every subscription candle, they also have access to significant multi-pack discounts (a subscriber 4-pack comes out to $37/candle). You can set your frequency to every 2, 3 or even 4 months and there is no penalty ever for skipping months, so this can be another way to game the system. 😛
