Join a wave of appreciation

This post was originally shared in our email newsletter on November 1, 2023.

Every November, we plan a “Giving Thanks” activity with the goal of sharing appreciation outwards to our community, and with the hope that it starts a ripple effect of appreciation. Numerous studies have found that expressing gratitude to others can have positive effects on our emotional health as well as on interpersonal and romantic relationships.

This year we are trying something new which I am feeling particularly excited about.

We are asking you to share an appreciation with us about someone in your life. In particular, we're hoping to hear about people you know and appreciate, whose activities you feel are under-appreciated or under-valued. These could be people occupying caregiver or educator roles, people who have quietly acted toward the public good in some way, provided mentorship through a difficult moment, or provided you or someone you know support. This is a chance to bring attention to those acts of compassion.

To up the creative ante—and to keep things brief—we are asking for haikus: short, three-line poems following a 5-7-5 syllable structure. To sweeten this act, we will be sending a complimentary Scent-to-Home sample set to the recipients of appreciation, for all valid entries that comply with our terms and conditions.

🖊️🤗 Submit an appreciation here 🤗🖊️

We’ll be sharing these appreciative haikus on our website and asking all of you to help us select a few finalists who will get to send a full-size candle, and one top appreciator who will get to share a year-long gift subscription with their nominee.

In addition, these finalists will each pick one of our partner nonprofits to receive a small donation on the nominee’s behalf.

Submissions are open until November 12. :)

With gratitude,

— Harry from Keap, Steward-Owner
