Deep in the greenwoods, a mountain rises above the trees.
Water sings around you in cascades and ripples;
the waterfall is edged with mossy boulders.
Dried leaves crackle underfoot;
a wisp of smoke curls above—you’ve reached the cabin,
lit the kindling stacked waiting for you in the fireplace.
Shut the door against the wilderness and welcome the night.
Poem by Rawaan Alkhatib

Perfect for bedrooms, fire sides, and those who aren't afraid of something deep, dark and mysterious.
The Memories
“Driving upstate to Vermont to venture into the wilderness. It's amazing how quickly you feel a connection with nature again once you leave the city. The leaves rustling in the wind and that familiar smell of pine”

A skin of soft snow coats the silent ground of this clearing.
In the forest of firs
the mountain path slides downward behind you,
slopes upward before you.
Here at its midpoint you linger.
In the quiet brilliant winter
the deep sweet green holds the promise
of what waits to be found, of what could be found again.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski
Northlands

“How delightful it is, and how it makes one's pulses bound to get back into this reviving northland wilderness! How truly wild it is, and how joyously one's heart responds to the welcome it gives, its waters and mountains shining and glowing like enthusiastic human faces!”
—John Muir
“We used to go camping in upstate New York — an entire side of my family, siblings and parents and aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents, all of us, every November. At the weekend market
the farmers fill their stalls with green smells,
earthy and extraordinary fruit and vegetables
piled in a riot of color and shape.
Open jam jars whisper sweet nothings
as you stroll by;
massed bunches of flowers
tumble their delicate scents into the air.
Everything is green and fresh and hurrahing in harvest.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski

You are floating, water-cradled,
suspended and dreaming;
a glittering sun-lit scatter of diamonds
in the peripheries of your vision.
Briny air and tiny lapping wavelets,
sunlight rippling across and under
and through the water
and your skin and the sand beneath you,
sea and sky and self in joyous conspiracy.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski

Perfect for day dreams, bathrooms, and those in search of seaside-cabins-upon-the-city.

Sometimes you need something good and beautiful.
A bowl of oranges.
A lime tree on the windowsill,
alight with tender blossoms and glowing green orbs.
A dream brimming with the scent of tangerines.
All you want is a life as bright and juicy as a plump fruit.
Take it.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski
Grapefruit + Yuzu

The zestiness of citrus fruit just ripe—winter lemons, grapefruits and yuzus—and the freshness of citrus leaves wafting from your hands as you crush them.
Perfect for a room filled with optimism, or days in need of a happy glow.
The Memories
“Growing up, we had an old lemon tree down the bottom of the garden. It didn't bear fruit every year, but when it did, I would wait, patiently, for the fruit to turn from green to yellow. Without telling my parents, I would pluck the first lemon from the tree. It was bright, sour and perfect; it was mine.”
“Is it odd that I sometimes dream of bathing in a bath full of citrus fruits?“

You open your door to find a little bouquet,
soft flowers that tumble into a cascade
of velvety petals when you pick it up.
They look like summer.
Like long vistas of lavender fields
lit by warm suns.
Whatever troubles you, set it aside.
Find a vase for your posy.
Breathe deep.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski

Perfect for a calm moment to yourself, and getting away from it all.
The Memories
“I was in Grasse, the home of perfumery, in the south of France. The town is nestled up on the side of a hill. We found a cafe, ordered a coffee, and peered out at the land laid below us. The land was a patchwork of lilacs, purples, mauves, and greens. Floral fields as far as you could see.”

In the dream everything was clean and calm,
a rumpled bed in a high-ceilinged room,
the scent of magnolia pouring across the veranda
and through the open window.
Lie here with your face turned to the sun
and watch the white curtains billow,
see the clouds float across the blue sky.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski

Deep within the orchard you
crush a fig underfoot;
the ripe, heady scent
mingles with the milky sap of the trees,
fruit peeping out from clusters of glossy leaves.
Overhead, you can see a sliver of starry night
through the leafy canopy,
a sky dark as blackberry juice.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski

“I was in Turkey, in a small town in the area called Antalya province, when I took a turn down a street that appeared to be a dead end. Enter through a great door, crafted from an ancient tree.
Rich, glimmering wooden aisles point inward.
Upward, ink-filled pages yearn with hidden mystery.
Fine leather chairs, waiting to get lost in.
Vast tables aflicker with candlelight.
Time suspended.
Imagination captured in words.
Hush! Embrace the stillness.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski

“I was fortunate to study at Trinity College in Cambridge. The dining hall was built by Henry VIII, and a large portrait of him has hung at the end of the room for 450 years. Entering the famous college library—where some books were centuries old too—was a humbling experience. I'll never forget the smell of those books, nor the absolute stillness in the air.”

At the river’s edge in the wake of the rain, white jasmine exhibits its starlight against the dense green jungle understory. Gentle dew and hot wood; fresh bloom and sweet fruit. Every moment, every portion of this forest charged with life: honeycreepers trill, old bark slips off the rainbow gum tree, its rich new skin emerging blue and yellow from beneath.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski
Isle of Jasmine
The Scent
A lush volcanic rainforest, replete with wild jasmine, rose, and saffron. Bunches of tart green bananas hang from the canopy overhead; light mist sprays from a nearby waterfall. Plush notes of woody musk and oolong tea float through the air.
Perfect for sinking into a sunny afternoon.
Isle of Jasmine is a limited-edition scent that returns from time to time for Keap subscribers.
The Memories
“It is said that jasmine was the favorite flower of Hawaiian Princess Ka’iulani. She often wore a lei of jasmine around her neck, and the gardens of her estate were filled with the flower. Some even say she christened Hawaii’s native jasmine variety “pīkake,” which means “peacock,” in honor of her pet peacocks, which would roam the gardens with her. Sometimes, I like to imagine myself in those expansive gardens, surrounded by acres of starlike pīkake, inhaling its spicy sweet fragrance.”
“There’s nothing like a rainforest after a storm, when the heat and humidity have broken and the trees’ broad leaves sparkle with dew. The scent of every flower is amplified. The animals begin to stir again. It feels like you’re in the heart of the world itself.”

Ease into the warmth of bubbling natural waters
—from somewhere deep under the earth
a volcano’s warmth
is seeping into hot springs.
Loosen up, unknot those shoulders,
relax into a good massage.
The water hisses on the sauna’s rocks
—the jacuzzi’s jets bubble around you
—that unforgettable spa scent hangs in the air.
Aaaahhh.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski

When it grows quiet, the clean musk of sage
soothes the arriving evening. The mesa casts its longing shadow
as the sun sinks between the juniper’s arcing trunks,
stops to hover above the warm blossoms of immortelle.
The horizon unspools endless in each direction, and you
feel the desert’s vastness, for a moment, in yourself.
The sky lights up with a fire all its own.
Poem by Matthew Kosinski
Canyons
The Scent
The almost spiritual glow of dusk in the desert, orange light streaked with purple cloud and blazing above the mesas. Juniper trees twist up from the sandy ground alongside spicy sprays of immortelle. The creamy smoke of sandalwood mixes with the clarifying, earthy musk of sage.
Perfect for making any room feel as boundless as a desert sky.
Canyons is our April 2021 Limited Edition Seasonal Scent for Keap subscribers. Available exclusively for our subscribers from April 1st to April 30th.
The Memories
“The fire. The odor of burning juniper is the sweetest fragrance on the face of the earth, in my honest judgment; I doubt if all the smoking censers of Dante's paradise could equal it. One breath of juniper smoke, like the perfume of sagebrush after rain, evokes in magical catalysis, like certain music, the space and light and clarity and piercing strangeness of the American West. Long may it burn.”
— Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire
“There’s more to the desert than hot sand and an unceasing sun. It’s an almost supernatural landscape, home to flora and fauna that exist nowhere else. When you’re out there at night, looking up at the moon overhead and the unbroken expanse of stars, you get a real sense of just how big the world really is.”
