The annual Keaper survey revealed beautiful insights about how candles integrate into Keapers’ lives, while also shedding light on broader societal trends affecting us all.
Can Burning a Candle Help with Well-Being?
The survey highlighted five primary ways our candles contribute to subscribers' sense of well-being and daily rituals:
-
Creating Rituals and Routine
Many Keapers incorporate candle-lighting into their daily practices, from morning meditations to evening wind-downs. One respondent shared, "I light a candle to start the "my" part of my day after doing the morning chores, but a few minutes before I'm ready to start work — when I can enjoy the start of my coffee, maybe read a chapter of a book, and plan the possibilities of the day." -
Enhancing Relaxation and Calm
In a world that often feels chaotic, the gentle flicker of a candle provides a moment of peace. One subscriber noted that the candles facilitate “positive energy shifts and moments of relaxation — sitting on the front porch, early rising, calm while working.” -
Improving Home Ambiance
With our homes often serving multiple functions (doubling as offices among other things), Keapers’ candles play an important role in setting the right mood for different activities throughout the day. One Keaper explained, “As I now permanently work from home, I like to light the candle after work ends to help transition my apartment from office to living space.” -
Marking Seasonal Changes
In an age where we're increasingly disconnected from natural rhythms, the Seasonal Scents offer a tangible link to the changing year. “I enjoy the ways the candles help me reflect on changes in season, and bring a sense of nature into my NYC apartment,” noted one respondent. -
Self-Care and Treat
For many, the arrival of the Keap shipment has become a moment of joy. One respondent shared this inspiring comment: “I find the candles help reduce my stress, but most of all, they help make day-to-day activities or days in general fancy. It reminds me that life is short, so drink out of the fancy glasses, put on the good perfume, and burn the good candles just because—not for a special occasion but for yourself. Live the champagne life every single day.”
Many Keapers use their candle as a reading or writing companion
Overall, the responses indicated that the candles support your efforts to create atmosphere and mark transitions in your lives.
A few other interesting patterns we noticed:
Meal times, especially dinner, are frequently associated with Keap candles
The candles were used both for moments of solitude and for social gatherings—again, with the intention of marking the moment
Keapers increasingly mentioned a spiritual aspect to burning candles—including those who self-described as not religious
Interestingly, we learned that a number of therapists use our candles in their practices, suggesting a calming effect of a lit candle in various settings
Reviewing these submissions offered us a brief window into your personal rituals and habits. It is deeply gratifying to see how you are using our candles to foster moments of presence and connection across so many aspects of your lives.
Next week, we’ll look into feedback around sustainability and share an update on our plans on that front.
As always, reach out to us over email (TheLab@KeapBK.com) with any thoughts, comments, or questions. I always love hearing from you.
Warmly,

We left social media in 2021 because we found its current mechanics didn’t align with our purpose to facilitate connection to the natural world, our loved ones, and our own spirits. Since then, our newsletter has become a vibrant place for healthy conversation around topics ranging from alternative business ownership models to happy hour cocktail recipes.
